What is the difference between coaching and counselling?

Coaching is practical and solution-focused. It helps you move towards specific goals, build momentum, and work through what may be getting in the way.

Counselling is reflective and exploratory. It offers a safe, confidential space to process emotions, understand patterns, and make sense of your experiences at your own pace.
Age and Eligibility
Balm & Nook services are available to individuals aged 18 and over.
Do you offer a free initial call?
Yes, a free 15-minute video consultation is available before booking.
How do I book?

How many sessions will I need?

For coaching, I recommend a commitment of at least 4 weeks to build momentum and make tangible progress.

For counselling, I suggest a 12-week commitment, leaving space needed for processing and healing.
What happens in the first session?
We’ll get to know each other, explore what brought you here, and identify what you’d like to work on.
How much does it cost?

1-1 Counselling: £60 / 60 mins.

1-1 Coaching: £60 / 60 mins.

1-1 Deep Dive: £90 / 90 mins - focused coaching session to help you work through key issues, decisions, or direction.

Group Coaching: £35 per session / 12-week programme.

What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed sessions, will be charged in full. If an urgent situation arises, please get in touch as soon as possible.
Where do sessions take place?

All one-to-one sessions are carried out online.

Policies
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of my practice. Information shared in our work together will remain confidential, with the exception of cases involving a significant risk of harm to yourself or others, or where disclosure is legally required. These limits to confidentiality are explained at the beginning, in accordance with professional ethical standards. Should such circumstances arise, I will make every effort to discuss them with you as part of our ongoing work.
Session Recordings
Sessions are not recorded.
Cancellation and Rescheduling
One-to-one sessions (Coaching and Counselling):
I require 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged in full.
Group Coaching Cohorts:
Group sessions require 72 hours for cancellation. Late cancellations may affect your place in the cohort and may incur charges at the group rate.
Free Introductory Calls:
The 48-hour cancellation policy applies to free 15-minute introductory calls. If you need to cancel, please give as much notice as possible.
Professional Boundaries
All sessions are conducted professionally and within appropriate boundaries in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. Balm & Nook does not offer crisis intervention. We are not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, please contact your GP, call 111 or 999. You can also reach out to Samarithans, Calm and Shout for further urgent support.
If an urgent issue arises during a session, I will guide you toward appropriate emergency services or support networks.
Social Media Conduct
Balm & Nook and Tosin use social media to share resources, insights, and updates. While we value this space, it isn’t used for client communication or therapeutic support. Please direct all enquiries through the official Balm & Nook’s website. We will not follow or engage with current or prospective clients on social media. We may remove inappropriate content.
In-Person Conduct
If Tosin and a client or prospective client encounter one another in person, whether in a public, professional, or social setting, Tosin will not initiate contact or acknowledge the professional relationship unless the client chooses to do so first, to protect their privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Clinical Supervision
All client work is undertaken within a framework of regular clinical supervision with a qualified and experienced supervisor. This ensures that all aspects of my practice are safe, ethical, and professionally supported.
What my supervisor knows
My supervisor may know your first name, general circumstances and progress in sessions. All identifying details are anonymised, and your personal information is only shared if required by law or to ensure your safety. By working with me, you consent to your being discussed in clinical supervision, which is a professional requirement to ensure safe and effective practice. Supervision is confidential and bound by the same ethical standards as client work.
Insurance
Balm & Nook holds current professional liability insurance in the UK.

Your privacy is very important to me. I comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and process your data responsibly and securely. I hold and use personal information to provide counselling and coaching services under legitimate interest. The information below explains what data is collected, why it is collected, how long it is kept, and your rights regarding your personal information.

How is your data stored?
Client records and session notes are stored securely on Google Drive, protected by passwords and two-factor authentication. Sessions take place via Google Meet. Email communication is through Gmail.
All platforms employ encrypted communication and industry-standard security measures to protect your data.
Withdrawing Consent
You may withdraw your consent for data processing at any time. To do this, contact me at tosin@balmandnook.com. If you withdraw consent, I will stop processing your data unless legally required to retain it.
Data Breach Notification
If a breach affects your personal data, I will notify you and the ICO within 72 hours of becoming aware, unless the breach is unlikely to risk your rights or freedoms. You will be informed of what happened, which data was affected, and the steps taken to resolve it.
